Gema de Castro Santos (Toledo, Spain) is an independent curator based in UK.
Her education has taken different fields, from MA Curatorial Practice at the UCA (Canterbury, UK) 2018, BA in Humanities 2016 & Diploma in Education Modern Foreign Language 2012, (University of Castilla-La Mancha, Toledo-Spain) and finally studies of Illustration and Graphic Design 2006 (School of Arts, Toledo-Spain). She also have been part of an International Student Erasmus Program at the University of Kent completing her Undergraduate studies of BA Humanities in the School of European Culture and Language and Classical studies.
Interested in working with people from different nationalities and backgrounds, weaving a network of contacts among all to form a common idea of support and collaboration. Developing curatorial work at international project spaces and galleries. and challenging herself to show art in new ways to diverse audiences and with a focus on creating interpretation and supporting texts that seek to keep art experiences open and unintimidating.

She has been part of UCA Canterbury's School of Art team and Programming Team Members at Crate Studio & Project Space in Margate, Kent. Working collaboratively to put on an inspiring and responsive arts programme that seeks to engage with a diverse audience, to offer up a variety of art events and support the continuing development of artistic experiences.

Currently, she has just launched her new project as Founder and Artistic Director of IMPRONTA Online Illustration & Print Gallery. It is offering unique artworks by local and international artists. Including events, interviews and online workshops. It strives to make it easy and accessible for everyone to buy affordable, quality, carefully chosen, original artworks of contemporary artists.

ACTANTS 9 March-5 May 2019 Group exhibition in the Front Room at the Beaney House of Knowledge Museum in Canterbury, featuring positions by 40 students from the School of Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts, UCA, Canterbury. The exhibition is featuring works by students from the BA (Hons) Fine Art course, MA Fine Art course as well as by Fine Art Alumni. Students were set a brief, namely to respond to the collections at the Beaney, including the special exhibition by Gerald Scarfe.
